Perkins Trucking, Inc. Home Page

Perkins Trucking, Inc. was established in 1983 in Austin, Colorado, with one Kenworth tractor and one Paxmite crane. We hauled and set precut structures for Heritage Homes in Montrose, Colorado, carrying them to Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico and Arizona. In 1984, we purchased our first 45' flatbed trailer, which enabled us to begin hauling precut log homes for Western Log Homes in Denver, and Tincup Log Homes in Eckert, Colorado. In 1986, we received interstate operating authority for both common and contract carrier. We also received intrastate authority. In 1987, we purchased our first 2-axle dolly with 5th wheel bolster and began hauling self-supporting oversize loads.

In 1994, Perkins Trucking, Inc. moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, in order to grow and diversify. In 1996, Mesa Brokerage, Inc., our flatbed/step-deck brokerage firm, was established, enabling us to better meet the transportation needs our customers were encountering. In November of 2008, we moved to Eckert in order to streamline operations and improve our capacity to provide quality customer service in the heavy haul and flatbed transportation industry.

Today we are primarily a heavy haul carrier. We transport oversize, overweight and difficult loads, specializing in self-supporting loads. We operate in the 48 continental United States and in Canada. All our drivers have obtained TWIC cards, enabling us to carry loads to and from America's shipping ports.

Our versatile fleet can meet the needs of most heavy haul and flatbed shipments. We can handle payloads from the usual legal weight to as much as 250,000 lbs. Our trailers include 9 to 17 axle self-supporting capability; 5, 7, 8, 11 and 13 axle removable goose neck trailers, one of which is a stretch deck; a step deck stretch trailer; and legal size flat and step deck trailers. All of our trucks and many of our trailers are equipped with air ride suspension. Tie-down equipment includes chains with binders, and straps. Tarps are available upon request.

In the recent past, we have been heavily involved with hauling self-supporting loads such as steel bridge beams. We have also been carrying nacelles for wind-powered energy from shipping ports in Texas to destinations in the Pacific Northwest. Other loads include oil field components such as mud pumps, compressors and pressure tanks; a restored locomotive; and a launch mate for NASA.

Our years of experience and expertise will allow us to meet your particular needs, providing you, our customers, with timely and quality service at competitive prices. Before you decide who will transport your cargo, call us or ask for your free rate quote online.
